Brain games for kids, without the noise

Junior mode is a bright, quiet space inside Gooby with four picture games — Picture Sudoku, Shape & shadow, What comes next? and Memory match — that practise logic, shapes, patterns and memory. No ads, no purchases, no timers and nothing to lose — just Gooby's critter friends and a star for every round.

Gooby's critter friends: a cat, a frog, a fish, a chick, a pig and an owl

Set it up once, hand it over

The first time you open Junior mode, a short setup screen is for you, not your child. Change it any time in Settings › Junior mode.

The games

Picture Sudoku

Sudoku with critters instead of numbers: every row, column and box gets each critter once.

  • Practises logic, attention and careful checking
  • 4×4 for little ones, 6×6 for big kids
  • Every board can be solved by "only one fits" steps — no guessing

Shape & shadow

Drag each coloured shape onto its shadow — from circles and stars to turned critter outlines.

  • Practises shapes, spatial thinking and finger control
  • Three shapes for little ones; turned and spare shadows for big kids
  • Drag, or tap a shape and then its shadow

What comes next?

Finish the pattern: pick the picture that fills the gap in the row.

  • Practises sequencing and early maths
  • AB, AAB and ABC critter repeats for little ones
  • Turning arrows, counting dots and two-rule patterns for big kids

Memory match

The classic pairs game: turn two cards and remember where everything is.

  • Practises working memory and concentration
  • Four cards and a peek for little ones, up to 24 for big kids
  • No move counter, no clock

Questions from parents

What ages are the kids games for?

About 4 to 12. When you set Junior mode up you can give your child's age (it's optional): younger children start on small boards with lots of clues and pictures only, older ones on larger boards with fewer clues and a few levels in. Without an age, every game starts from the easiest level and grows from there.

Are there ads or purchases?

No. There are no ads, no in-app purchases, no links out of the app, no chat and no accounts. Everything is free.

How does the grown-up lock work?

Once Junior mode is open, the app keeps opening there. If you set a four-digit PIN, tap the lock and enter it to get back to your own puzzles. Without a PIN, press and hold the lock for two seconds while a ring fills in the middle of the screen. Forgot the PIN? A grown-up sum lets you out and removes it.

Can my child lose or fail?

No. There are no timers, scores or mistakes. A picture that doesn't fit simply wiggles and hops back out, and a Help button points to a square where only one picture fits. Every finished round earns a star.

Does it work without the internet?

Yes. After the first visit everything works offline, and the puzzles are made on the device. Progress stays on the device. Add Gooby to the home screen to open it like an app.
